Current legal standards for protective clothing
Below we have listed the current legal standards for protective clothing at the workplace.
EN 342 - Protective clothing - Set of clothing and garments to protect against cold
EN 343 - Protective clothing - Protection against rain
EN 469 - Protective clothing for firefighters - Performance requirements for protective clothing intended for firefighting.
EN 1149-5 - Protective clothing - Electrostatic properties - Part 5: Material and construction requirements
EN 13034 - Protective clothing against liquid chemicals - Requirements for clothing with limited effectiveness against liquid chemicals (Type 6 and Type PB6 garments)
EN 14605 - Protective clothing against liquid chemicals - Requirements for clothing protecting the whole body, with connections impermeable to liquids in liquid (Type 3) or spray (Type 4) form, including articles providing only partial body protection (Types PB [3] and PB [4])
EN ISO 11611 - Protective clothing for use in welding and related processes
EN ISO 11612 - Protective clothing - Protective clothing against heat and flame
EN ISO 13688 - Protective clothing - General requirements
EN ISO 14116 - Protective clothing - Protection against heat and flame - Materials, kits of materials and clothing with limited flame spread
EN ISO 20471 - High Visibility Clothing - Test methods and requirements
IEC 61482-2 - Live working - Protective clothing against the thermal hazards of an electric arc. Part 1-2: Test methods. Method 2: Determination of the arc protection class of materials and clothing using a forced and directed electric arc (test chamber)
Specialist protective clothing
The current legal standards for protective clothing also apply to specialist clothing that must meet specific requirements. Find out more about them below.
Acid-resistant protective clothing
EN 340, EN 13034 - The clothing is abrasion resistant class 6, tearing class 3, stuffing class 6, thanks to which it effectively protects against diluted acids and bases, type 6, category II. It is used in an environment where there is a risk of contact with corrosive substances, e.g. in the automotive and pharmaceutical industries.
Antistatic protective clothing
EN 340, EN 1149-1, EN 1149-1, EN 1149-5 - Due to its structure, the clothing protects against sparking discharge that could ignite an explosive mixture, allowing the discharge of electrostatic charges. It is used in explosion hazard zones 1 and 2 in the presence of mixtures of gases and vapors belonging to explosion groups II A and II B and in the electronics industry.
Antistatic and acid-resistant protective clothing
EN 340, EN 1149-1, EN 1149-3, EN 1149-5, EN 13034 - The structure of the garment allows the discharge of electrostatic charges and short-term contact with diluted acids and bases, type 6, category II.
Thermal protective clothing
EN 340, ENV 342 - Clothing should protect against cold, precipitation and wind when working outside thanks to the use of a waterproof outer fabric with low air permeability and a warming insert.
Protective clothing for welders and workers in related professions
EN 340, EN 470-1 - The clothing protects against ignition and burns from sparks and splashes of hot metal thanks to its fabric with Proban finish and non-flammable threads for seams outside the product. Used for welding works performed in a standing or squatting position indoors all year round and outdoors in summer.
EN 340, EN ISO 11611 - Due to the fact that the garments are made of flame-retardant fabric and non-flammable threads for seams, the garment protects against splashes of molten metal, short contact with flames, heat radiation during arc welding, and minimizes electric shock.
High-visibility protective clothing
EN 471 - Made of a material with a distinctive and intense color and reflective elements. See high-vis clothing in the Baltic BHP offer!
Knowing the current legal standards for protective clothing, you can easily choose work clothes for yourself and your employees. Properly selected workwear is not only comfort, but above all safety at the workplace.
