How can I make my work trousers not tear?

Trousers tear again? What a crap! This is the first thought that comes to mind when our work trousers crack in the crotch or if the seams in them are leaking or the knee pads are breaking. Of course, there is a lot of truth in this, if our workwear breaks down even though we use it correctly, of course we have the right to be disappointed. Today, however, we will deal with the positive, i.e. the topic of what to do so that work trousers do not burst.

Why do work trousers tear?

Work trousers are exposed to material stresses, abrasions, abrasions, stretches, cuts every day.. and we could go on like this forever. In a word, they don't have it easy. In addition, we often stuff pockets in them, hang a hammer or knife on them. The wear rate of our work trousers depends, among other things, on from the material from which they were made and adapting the model of the trousers to the work performed. However, our experience shows that we buy work trousers because we like them and they are comfortable, not because we are going to buy special trousers for a painter or tiler. So we recommend spending 5 minutes to get acquainted with the most popular problems we encounter when using work trousers.

Buy stretchy work trousers

This is the first and most important piece of advice, buy stretchy work trousers with plenty of stretch that can take stretching and stretching very well. Thanks to this, the risk of tearing the main material of the pants, e.g. when kneeling or squatting, is significantly reduced. Particular attention should be paid to full stretch pants made entirely of elastic material or denim stretch, i.e. stretching jeans. If you do not decide to buy stretch pants, make sure that the work pants you are looking at have at least elastic inserts in places most exposed to tearing, e.g. in the crotch or under the knees.

Keep a step with you

What breaks most often in our work trousers is the step. The seams come loose, the main fabric is torn, the stretch inserts tear. Work trousers work in extremely difficult conditions. Painters, carpenters, builders squat all day, climb ladders, bend down, and their pants have to endure all these acrobatics. Therefore, it is extremely important that work trousers are worn at the correct height. If you wear work trousers too low, the stresses that the trousers take on will result in tearing of the material and then, for example, a hole in the crotch. So your friends are suspenders and a belt - preferably elastic ones. How do you know if you wear them well? The tucks of the front pockets (i.e. the place where the pockets begin) should be at the height of the pelvic bones.

Do not wipe the floor with your knees

Cordura is an extremely strong and abrasion-resistant material. Plain weave of polyamide, polyester, Teflon, originally patented by DuPont. It is extremely durable but not indestructible. We often receive complaints about pants where the protective pockets for the knee pads are torn right through. This is a typical mechanical damage caused by rubbing the knees against the ground - i.e. typical shuffling of the knees on the floor. Unfortunately, such damage is mechanical in nature and is usually not accepted by experts. What does it mean? If you complain about such damage, you will probably receive a negative answer. Therefore, it is worth keeping moderation, of course, you can and should work on your knees, but we strongly advise against moving on the floor in this way.

Slim fit work trousers, but be careful

None of us like wearing baggy work trousers. However, we cannot overdo it. If you want to wear very narrow trousers, be sure to choose full stretch models that will adapt to your position at work, the work you are currently doing. We can especially recommend two models of slim fit trousers, which will perfectly endure both hard conditions and changing positions. If you do lighter work, choose the Dassy Osaka pants made of stretch denim. They fit well and look great - you can wear them not only to work. If, on the other hand, you work on construction, on roofs, choose Dassy Melbourne elastic pants with pocket bags and pockets for protective knee pads.
