Protective gloves for welders are included in category II of personal protective equipment. Protective welding gloves are divided into groups:
- type A (ensure that the requirements for protective properties are met at a higher level)
- type B (they are used for demanding work where high dexterity is required, e.g. TIG welding (it is welding with a non-consumable tungsten electrode in an inert gas shield).
The task of the gloves is to protect the hands and wrists against small splashes of molten metal, burns resulting from short-term contact with a flame and a hot object or surface, convection heat and UV radiation from the arc, and mechanical factors such as abrasions, cuts and punctures.
