Work shoes, your basics
Work shoes are another widely used personal protective equipment. This group includes a number of models of shoes, including with a metal toe cap, metal insert, built-in heel, acid-resistant coating. Occupational safety shoes are designed to protect the employee's feet against various types of hazards in the work environment, including against mechanical injuries of the feet, high temperature, cold, the action of chemical agents or microorganisms, or the action of electric charges. The construction of work shoes most often provides users with protection against several threats at the same time, e.g. it protects the feet against mechanical injuries and cold, or against chemical substances and mechanical injuries.
Huge selection, difficult decisions
There are models of work shoes on the market in a wide price range, from the simplest models to technologically advanced multi-standard and specialized work shoes. Synthetic leather is a popular material for the production of work shoes. Shoes made of synthetic leather are cheaper, but offer low comfort and durability of work shoes. High-end models are made of natural leather, possibly with the addition of specialized fibers. A popular material for the production of shoes is also polyurethane or other plastics, which are highly resistant to chemicals and acids, and also offer protection against microorganisms.
Work shoes can protect against:
- mechanical injuries,
- high temperature,
- low temperature,
- weather conditions (waterproof work boots, work boots that provide ventilation),
- chemicals and microorganisms,
- action of electric charges (ESD * shoes (Electrostatic Discharge).
