BOA binding system - who, when and why?

BOA system invented 17 years ago by Gary Hammerslag to make it easier to tie snowboard boots without taking off the gloves.

It soon turned out that the BOA binding system would find many more uses than just in sports.

How does the BOA binding system work?

Instead of using standard laces, the BOA system uses specially constructed braided lines in an outer jacket made of plastic, thanks to which there is no water absorption, while the whole is very durable and slim. The line is tightened using a special knob that works only in one direction together with the characteristic "click" to "untie" the shoes, just slightly lift the knob to release the cable lock.

The use of the BOA system in work shoes

The most famous manufacturers of work shoes have recognized the exceptional utility of the BOA lacing system for all types of workers who use gloves. In addition, the BOA system mount provides resistance to all kinds of jerks, so it can be safely used even in very difficult conditions. The BOA binding system is used by brands such as Engelbert Strauss, Base Protection, Brynje, Jalas and Steitz Secura.

BOA system - the future starts today

The growing popularity of the BOA system in the case of work shoes shows us clearly that soon work shoes with the BOA system will become commonplace. The first models of gloves with the BOA binding system appear, so far they are not work gloves but only gloves for a motorbike, who knows what the future will bring.

True premium work shoes

How well a promising solution for work shoes is the BOA binding system is perfectly illustrated by the example from Engelbert Strauss, the Tegmen model in its improved, second version already has BOA instead of traditional laces as a way of keeping shoes on the leg.
