3M G3000 protective helmet for industry
Today we take a 3M brand protective helmet known to many as a helmet with a red dot for testing. The Solaris G3000 is a ventilated safety helmet with a four-point head harness. The helmet is received in foil with the helmet shell and the harness. When buying, we can choose two versions of the adjustment: belt (G2C) and screw (G2N). As both versions are available on balticbhp.pl, we will look at them one by one.
The helmet looks solidly made, a solid shell made of high gloss and rounded, which reduces the risk of the helmet catching on branches or protruding objects. The front has a standard visor that protects against the sun and prevents water from dripping into the user's eyes. The harness is not pre-attached, the method of its attachment to the helmet shell is not very intuitive and can be difficult. There are 4 fastenings for the harness and they should be pushed into the slots in the inner part of the helmet and then the textile straps must be tightly tightened. We can turn the truss and wear a helmet with a visor on the back.
You can of course buy the helmet in our store:
There are ventilation holes in the helmet's shell. Helmet shell made of ultra-durable ABS material. On the back of the shell there is a red UV sensor - Sensor Uvicator ™. This sensor, when exposed to UV rays, changes color and automatically indicates when the helmet should be destroyed. This makes it easier to check the condition of the wear of the helmets. 3M's research on helmet materials has shown that they have varying resistance to UV rays, which can significantly reduce the durability of the helmet.
The helmet shell has mounting holes for additional accessories: a chinstrap and integrated glasses. When it comes to straps, we have a choice of two versions: a two-point belt and a three-point belt (3M does not produce 4-point belts). Depending on the version of the strap, it is attached to the helmet in 2 or 3 points. When it comes to sockets for mounting ear muffs, these are standard 30 mm sockets. We can easily attach hearing protectors from the Optime series to the helmet. Additional accessories can be attached directly to the protective earmuffs. We can also buy 3M P3EV adapters and mount, for example, a 3M V2C polycarbonate face shield.
When it comes to integrated glasses, they are attached directly to the helmet harness. Their biggest advantage is the ability to hide the glasses under the helmet shell. The glasses are available with three types of lenses: colorless, yellow and gray.
The production date is marked on the inner part of the shell (on the peak). Remember that each helmet has a limited lifetime. In the manual, 3M recommends replacing the helmet shell within 2-5 years depending on the intensity of use. According to the instructions for use, the helmet should be replaced in the event of mechanical damage or exposure to chemical agents.
As mentioned above, the helmet has a UV sensor that turns white when exposed to UV rays. The sensor should absolutely not be stuck or covered, and the shell and the sensor should be equally exposed to UV rays.
3M G3000 helmet harness
The harness of the helmet is made of plastic elements and textile straps. Unlike cheap helmets, the textile harness does not chafe the scalp and does not hurt. It fits the shape of the head more easily. 3M offers two types of harnesses for G3000 helmets - with strap adjustment and with smooth adjustment by means of a screw. The screw harness is more convenient because it allows you to better adjust the circumference of the helmet to your needs.
An important element of the helmet is also an anti-sweat band, which absorbs moisture and prevents sweat drops from dripping into the user's eyes. In the basic version of the helmet, the sweatband is made of plastic.
The helmet, depending on the type of the harness, is available under the catalog numbers: G3000CUV (strap adjustment) and G3000NUV (screw adjustment).
The 3M G3000 helmet has been certified under the EN 397: 2012 standard for protective helmets.
Summary
The 3M G3000 helmet is a solid protective helmet, which in return for a slightly higher price will reward you with the comfort of use and durability. It is important that the purchase of the G3000 helmet allows you to build a protective system consisting of many elements: integrated glasses, ear muffs, face protection. In addition, it is possible to replace the part that is most exposed to damage, i.e. the truss. A nice addition to the helmet is the Sensor Uvicator ™ which indicates when the helmet needs to be disposed of. All in all, the G3000 helmet is a product worth recommending. We certainly recommend buying such a product instead of cheap protective helmets for a dozen or so zlotys.
